Wouldn’t it be nice if we got to pick what we wanted to do each and every day? Imagine waking up and asking yourself, “What shall I do today?” Then picture yourself doing exactly what you chose.
Hmmm, now how wonderful would that feel? Of course, it would feel pretty darn good.
Life is ultimately what we make it as we all know. Our perspective, choices, actions and relationships (of all kinds) make up our days and nights.
Take a few minutes to think about your priorities in life and what is important to you. What do you value and how do you want to move through life? What are your interests and what relationships are important to you? You may even want to take another few minutes to quickly jot your answers down.
BTW, this little exercise should be real life answers, not fantasy answers. Fantasy is fun, however, we don’t live in a fantasy world. Real life can be rich, meaningful, and joyful as well.
You will likely see several scenarios come to mind when you do this little exercise. One, you will see that there is a gap between what you want to do and what you actually do in life. You may also realize that you do what you want to do, not just the fun stuff, but also what matters to you. For example, taking care of your family, working hard to do well at school or work, etc.
You may also see that you need to adjust your perspective and or your attitude. Sometimes we forget that we are really doing what is important to us. Stress gets in the way along with other frustrations and worry.
Today, do what you like and make adjustments where needed whether internal or external actions are required!
