Do you ever feel like you have way too much on your plate? Not food, mind you … things to do, things to accomplish, things to put in motion, things to finalize and cross off your to-do list.

Feeling under pressure is not a pleasurable sensation. The irony is, we often do it to ourselves. Sure, it may not be on purpose or consciously chosen, but it is what happens just the same.

Life entails a great deal of activities as you well know. We have a great deal that we want to accomplish, and typically a limited time to do it in, right?

So to feel better in our daily lives, in particular when we feel under pressure, we need to be more conscious of our unpleasant state. It is powerful to acknowledge that we are feeling under pressure and try to consciously relax.

Do not underestimate how much control you can have over your inner environment. Often, we forget that we can make ourselves feel better and less stressed. The trick is to not get caught up in our thinking, our agenda, the never-ending to-do list, and let life run us.

Essentially, when we feel under pressure, we need to step back and actively, consciously chill out. No one can do this for us. We would benefit from understanding that we will do our best and that is more than enough.

This may seem very simplistic, and yes, it is. The problem arises when we are unaware of ourselves and automatically go into overdrive mode. Simply stepping back and noticing how we are feeling can create some ease and comfort, a bit of breathing room.

Next time you feel like too much is going on, admit it to yourself, own that you are getting caught up in a mindset that you can consciously change. Take time to breathe and relax and get a better perspective in mind.

BTW, we provide a pressure free environment at The Toothery. We go out of our way to help our patients feel relaxed and comfortable. Let us help you feel good about your oral health and going to the dentist!
